Office Shelving

Give Your Office some Contemporary Style!

More and more people are working from home and need some office shelving to make a proper home office and organize their work professionally. There are some great new styles of office shelves available that will make your office space look efficient and attractive and here is a selection of the latest designs:

Elfa Platinum and White Office Shelving provides good looking storage systems for file binders, reference material and documents. It’s open back shelving that allows good air circulation around the shelves to keep away any mold from developing when the office is closed up and cold. The Elfa storage system is easy to install on hollow, stud or internal walls without causing any wall damage. Once you have fixed the vertical wall bars, the wood shelving just clips into place with screws. The wall mounted shelving bars are made of epoxy bonded steel and the shelves have a Melamine veneer that looks modern and is easy to clean.

The dimensions are 30″ x 56″ x 8′ and set up against a plain wall this office shelving looks contemporary and professional. You can buy it from The Container Shop online and it costs $352.62. Elfa is a Swedish company which produces really original and contemporary looking storage systems and closet organizers too. It’s worth a look at more Elfa products online if you want some lovely modular shelving in birch or walnut which looks very elegant and sophisticated.

The InterMetro range of office shelving is another range which looks modern and efficient. Their steel shelving storage systems have extra-strong open back shelves which are designed to take the weight of libraries of books, boxes of stationery and computer equipment. The metal shelving can support weights up to 500 lbs and it’s easy to assemble without tools. This system has open back shelves that allow a free circulation of air which is very important when you’re storing paper products. The dimensions of this basic unit are 18″ x 48″ x 74 1/2″ and the colors are black, silver or white. The InterMetro Office Shelving unit is available from The Container Store online and costs $234.25.

For office furniture that’s both useful and attractive you’ll find that the Office Depot 48″ Office Shelving For Books is just right. It’s a bookcase with 4 wood shelves finished in a rich looking Natural Cherry color. It’s commercial shelving, but it would look good in any home as well. The bookcase has sturdy, adjustable shelves which can support a weight of 50lbs each. This is deluxe office shelving that looks expensive, but isn’t! The dimensions are 48″H x 35 5/8″W x 11 5/8″D and it costs $77.19 from Office Depot online.

My final choice is wire shelving from Walmart; The Whitmor Chrome Stacking Metal Storage System is an inexpensive and practical way to get your office organized. It’s made from sturdy steel shelving with an individual shelf weight capacity of 200 lbs. This is part of an office shelving system with pieces that fit together so you can buy more and increase your storage area if required. This unit includes six wire shelves and would be perfect for a home office when you don’t want to spend a fortune on commercial shelving. I also think this storage system would go well in a teenager’s bedroom and provide useful open shelving for school books and papers. Wire shelving doesn’t catch all the dust in the air and so is very easy to keep clean and it looks contemporary and sleek. The regular model measures 16″H x 14″D x 15″W and the wide model is 30″ wide. You can buy this office shelving from Walmart online for $94.74.

Office shelving is available in many styles and sizes to accommodate your storage requirements, while still looking attractive and stylish to make your working day more pleasant. Commercial shelving is also a way to show your clients what sort of personality you have and an efficient looking office space which shows attention to detail will say more about you than any words can!

Vital Importance Of Small Business Accounting Software

Every business functions through a range of disciplines, sales and marketing, operational skills, purchasing and management. A small business accounting software is also an essential tool to bring financial discipline to the business. No matter how skilled and well trained the business every small business needs a full range of functions to reach the highest levels of success.

The first lesson in business is to ensure that business has sufficient cash to trade the next day. Failing to meet this target and the business is finished which is why accounting and in particular accounting software should be regarded by the small business management as an essential piece of kit.

This comes in many guises some of which will be more suitable for a particular business than others. Nevertheless the choice to adopt a solid form of financial control is vital to ensure sales are higher enough to generate profits, margins are sufficient, costs are controlled, net profits are generated, cash flow is under control and losses can be identified and reversed or halted. No large business would survive without a sophisticated system of financial control and small businesses have the same requirements albeit on a different scale.

Many entrepreneurs who run a small business regard the accounting function and the recording of financial transactions as an administrative burden. Small business accounting software should not be viewed in this way but instead as a tool to assist the generation of safer stringer profits and the early warning system of dealing with problems if the business does not perform.

Use it to update the financial records at least once each month. With sales recorded every month peaks and troughs in performance are obvious and can then be examined to replicate those actions that produced higher sales levels and cut out those actions which produced lesser results. The result hopefully being sustained sales growth.

Record all the costs each month and as with sales the trend to higher costs or more efficient cost control will be evident from the financial accounts. Also of importance will be the profit margin being achieved and this can be viewed against the level of sales and justified. Statistically small businesses run by born salesmen achieve high sales but at the cost of lower margins while businesses run by accountants tend to achieve higher profit margins but with lower sales.

This statistical fact is true as is also the fact that most small businesses are run by neither accountants nor salesmen but by the skilled worker applying their trade or area of expertise. By using a small business accounting software the entrepreneur can judge what he would like the figures to show against what they actually show and take the necessary action to change the future and produce the desired result. Without accounting software the entrepreneur works in the dark depending on hunches rather than financial facts.

No matter how good or bad a business is the cash flow or lack of it might well determine future growth or in the worst case scenario, survival. Many small businesses that do not use a small business accounting solution package and run into difficulties have often been in financial problems for many months before it is obvious as reductions in profitability are hidden by extended credit from suppliers or tightening credit lines with customers.

It can indicate which parts of the business are doing well, where action is needed if underperforming and may also indicate where action needs to be taken. Accurate control of money owed in and money owed out is extremely difficult without the information to know how significant these figures are. But they can be critical for some businesses and using a small business accounting software that provides this information is crucial.

A disadvantage is that it may sound like a foreign language but it does not have to be so difficult. Accounting software using a database can require some bookkeeping skills to get the most out of the system but there are other alternatives. A solution written on excel spreadsheets that produces all the main requirements with all transactions visible can be an ideal solution for small businesses with little or no bookkeeping or accounting knowledge.

Save Big Bucks On Business Books

Time and money… most small business owners could do with more. So how can you read all those great publications, news stories, business books, magazines…without breaking the bank? Just as importantly, where do you find the time to search for all these books?

Many small business owners and prospective business owners have never considered utilizing their local library to save time and money. The great thing about technology is that it has made it easier than ever to obtain the business books you have been hearing about, but don’t want to spend money on until–or unless–you know they will be an ongoing resource.

Before you run out and buy dozens, or even one business book, consider checking it out from the library first. Often, you only need one or two of the ideas the book proposes. Other times, this may be a book that you turn to time and again as a source of ideas, inspiration and advice. You don’t know which it will be, however, until you have a chance to spend some time with the book. Therefore, save your money–order the book or check it out from the library first–buy it later if it is worth it to you.

Even better, with the advances in technology, in most areas you can access books through your local library’s network website, which saves you the time of browsing stacks in multiple locations. Basically, you are able to access books from multiple libraries throughout your metro area or state by simply having a local library card…and without having to go to those libraries to get the books (similar to ordering books through an online retailer, but you don’t have to pay for them).

Its usually very simple: log on to your local library website, search title, author, keyword….find the book you want, click “Place Hold” and select the library you would like to pick the book up at…and a few days later, your friendly librarian will call you to let you know the book is ready for pick up. In most cases, this is an entirely FREE service, and is available to anyone who holds a library card with a participating library.

So save your time…and money! Before you decide to run out and buy all those books, utilize the resources your tax dollars are already paying for.
